Facebook ran face recognition on uploaded photos from 2010 to 2021, ON by default. It paid $650M in Illinois and $1.4B in Texas over it. Every face in every photo you uploaded went through that scanner. This prompt reads your own data export locally and shows you what it saw: the faces, the people, the apps that reported you, the advertisers that have your info.

No Facebook account? You may still be in there.
When your friends sync their contacts to Facebook, Instagram or Messenger, Meta gets your name, phone number and email, even if you never signed up. Meta has a tool to look up and remove them.

Does my data leave my laptop?
No. The prompt runs on the export file you download yourself. Face detection runs locally and the prompt tells Claude never to upload your photos anywhere.
What do I need?
Claude Code and your Meta data export. Accounts Center → Your information and permissions → Download your information → JSON, all time. Meta usually takes a few hours to prepare it.
Does Facebook still run face recognition on my photos?
Meta says it shut the system down in 2021 and deleted the templates. In June 2026 WIRED found new face recognition code in the Meta AI glasses app, which Meta removed the next day. The prompt shows you what is in your own export today.
Does it work with Instagram?
Yes. Request the export for your Instagram account in the same Accounts Center and put it in the same folder.
How long does it take?
A few minutes once the export is unzipped. Big photo libraries take longer for the face detection step.
